Getting Started
Bring in a yard’s prices, plan your load, and keep a record of what you sold. Choose a guide below to get started.
Sign in to ScrapMax before starting. Keep an internet connection while uploading and reviewing scans.
Scan a price sheet
Use a photo of a yard’s price sheet or price board.
- Open Yards and choose the scrap yard. Add the yard first if it is not in your list.
- Select Create New Price Sheet, then choose Scan with Camera or Upload a Photo.
- Capture a clear image with the material names, prices, and units visible. Check the image, select Extract Prices, and wait for processing to finish.
- Confirm or correct the price-sheet date. Tap each row to check its material match, price, and pricing unit against the original image. Correct any scanning mistakes.
- Use the toggles to exclude rows you do not want, including headings or notes that were read as prices. Approve the rows you have checked. Use Approve Selected only after reviewing all included rows.
Match a yard’s material names
Yards may use abbreviations or different names for the same material. A match connects that wording to a material in ScrapMax.
- During price-sheet review, tap a row whose material match is missing or incorrect.
- Read the yard’s original wording, then open the material selector. Search for and select the correct ScrapMax material. Check the type and grade before choosing.
- Confirm the current match when prompted. Check the row’s price and unit, then save and approve the corrected row.
- Review material matches on later scans too. When reviewing a receipt, open a material line to correct a missing or incorrect selection before saving the sale.
Estimate a load before you go
A load brings together the materials you plan to take and the prices you want to use for your estimate.
- Open Loads and start a new load.
- Choose the yard and a price sheet with usable, approved prices. Check the sheet’s date. If it has no priced entries, review and approve prices before continuing.
- Enter a load name and check the date, then select Create Load.
- Add the materials you are taking. Enter each material’s weight or quantity and select the correct unit. Use a count for materials priced per item.
- Review the estimated total and any materials still missing prices or weights. Update those entries before relying on the estimate.
Scan a receipt and save a sale
Use the yard’s receipt to record what you sold, where you sold it, and what you were paid.
- Open Sales and select Scan Receipt. Receipt scanning and review require an internet connection.
- Choose Camera or Library. Use a readable image that includes the yard, sale date, material lines, and total paid.
- Start the scan and wait until the receipt is ready for review. Open the review and compare the extracted information with the original receipt.
- Correct the yard, date, materials, weights or quantities, units, and amounts paid. Add any missing material lines and check the final total.
- Complete the review and resolve any highlighted fields. If the screen offers Review Changes, use it to check your entries first. Then select Save Sale and confirm. Wait for the saved sale to open, then check it in Sales.
